What do you do when I subscribe?
 
With the information you provide we will contact over 30 direct marketing organizations and catalog companies and instruct them to remove your name from their distribution lists. This includes almost all credit card applications, coupon mailers, sweepstakes entries, magazine offers, insurance promotions, as well as any catalogs you specify. Because some direct marketing companies require an original signature for their unsubscribe request, we will send you several pre-stamped, pre-addressed postcards. All you have to do is sign your name and drop them in the mail.

What do I have to do?
 
Fill out our on-line order form then email us with the names of everyone in the household who no longer wishes to receive junk mail along with the names of any specific catalogs you would no longer like to receive.
 
How long does it take for the bulk mail to stop?
 
You will see a noticeable improvement within two months. After four months your bulk mail should be eliminated by between 80% and 95%.

Why can you only eliminate between 80% and 95% of bulk mail; Why not all of it?
 
Some direct mailers completely ignore customer unsubscribe requests. Globaljunkmailcrisis is continually working with our partners to ensure that these requests are being honored. On the rare occasion that a direct mailer does not honor our request we can provide you with a form legally requiring them to stop sending you mail.

What happens to the mail I don't receive?
 
When you sign up for our service, we contact the companies that send out the mail and instruct them to not send it to you. This means the mail is never generated in the first place. A "win-win" situation for you and the environment!

How did they get my name?
 
If you've ordered from a catalog, contributed to a charity, used a credit card, or have a magazine subscription, your name probably appears on various marketing lists. Direct marketers rent these lists of names if they think their product or service would appeal to the people on those lists.

Can I stop junk mail coming to my business as well?
 
Sorry, at this time these services as well as others can only offer this service to households. For reasons of legality.
 
How does Globaljunkmailcrisis.org stop my junk mail?

We are in contact with dozens of direct mailers and literally thousands of catalog publishers. We contact them on your behalf and make sure that you STAY off of their lists. There are several direct mailers that require your signature. For those, we will send you pre-printed, pre-stamped postcards that you can simply sign and drop in the mail. We have a team of dedicated people working to make sure that you receive the best possible service.
 
What if there is some junk mail I want to get?

Most junk mail from national and regional marketers will stop and we can't customize that. If you have a direct association with a company or local business, that mail will still show up because they haven't purchased your name from a list. We will not stop charitable solicitations or catalogs unless you specifically ask us to do so. 

What if I still want a particular catalog?

We won't get between you and any catalogs you still wish to receive! You have the choice of which catalogs you get. We will contact any catalog companies that you specify. The other catalogs you still want will keep coming. Some catalog mailing labels are printed months in advance, so it could take a while to stop, but rest assured we will make your request promptly.

What if I have a p.o. box and a physical street address?
Are both of these covered with a single membership?

You will need to sign up for our service at both addresses to be completely covered.

What kinds of information do you need from me?

 We simply need your name and address as well as your e-mail address or phone number in case we need to contact you. We have no need for you birth date or social security number!
We will not trade, sell or distribute any of your personal information. For billing purposes we need your credit card information. We will permanently delete your credit card information immediately after you are billed.
